WASHINGTON -- EdgeAccess is pleased to announce that Smart Digital Communications Bhd (Malaysia) has selected EdgeAccess as the preferred VoIP equipment provider for their new SurfBeam broadband satellite communications network providing Triple Play services to more than 5000 remote sites.

This new service will also help to meet the Malaysian government's National Broadband Plan, an effort to increase the Malaysian broadband internet penetration rate and bridging the digital divide across all levels. Smart's Triple Play services, with its video, voice and data application on Ku-Band Surf Beam (DOCSIS) and C-Band Linkstar is expected to be launched by the middle of the 2005.
